Before the internet and before I really knew about marketing a friend I used to work with would always read the newspaper. He said something that always stuck with me. He said, “people don’t read the newspaper they read the headlines.”

  1. Hey, I got your email (I’m on your list). And I watched the video. At first I wanted to ask you to take the video down because once black hat craiglist posters got on to this, they will definitely abuse it and make it useless for those that don’t use expensive software to flag people. But then I said “what the heck, let me try this and see if it works before I comment on the video.” So, I tried it and what happened is that first, I noticed that CL has a new notation when you post an ad which clearly discourages you from posting in the sales section if you do not have a physical product. But then I thought, “what the hay, I’ll try it anyways since Tom seems like a decent guy and it worked for him.” I went through the process and was happy that everything went through. And then I waited all day to see if I got any orders. At the end of the day, after getting no responses to my ad, I decided to post another ad in the services section this time. After successfully posting my ad in the services section, I noticed something very disappointing… My other ad had been removed by the craiglist staff. It was not flagged, but removed completely without any notice. That is how you know when it was craigslist staff and not a flagging robot. When craigslist removes your ad, they will not give you any notice, they just take it down and you won’t know until you login and check your account. So, my take on this is that craiglist immediately caught on to this trick since you posted it; and now it will not work any more. Oh well. Thanks for the information though it did not work well for me.

    • Thanks Nikki! Yes Craigslist has caught on to this, but you can still get creative with your titles. Some of your ads will stick.

  2. Any insight into how to keep network marketing ads from getting flagged?? I wrote a letter to the “boss” of Craigslist and asked him how come MY ads get flagged all the time, even though my biz is NOT an MLM and Avon ads don’t get flagged when their biz IS and MLM.

    • Thanks John! If you Google “Tom Doherty MLM Craigslist” a lot of blogs I wrote will show up that will help you. If you still need further assistance reach out to me my number is at the bottom of the blog.
